These boots were made for walking,

Me in Silver Wellies as good as it gets (1 of 1)

Well, actually, they’re not…..These ones are made of silver and would be terribly impractical.

However, I am donning my walking shoes for a good cause, Macmillan Cancer Support.  On the 30th June, my friend Laurel and I will be walking 22 miles along the Jurassic Coast for this marvelous charity.

It’s a charity I like, not just for the care they provide to cancer sufferers, but for the support they give to the families of the sufferers, psychologically and financially.

We all know someone who’s been affected by cancer. I saw my cousin battle through chemotherapy, bravely educating her young family as she did. I wish that my lovely Godmother was still around, I have so many conversations left to have with her.  I had a small scare myself a while ago.  I found a lump in my breast and it terrified me.  The thought of having cancer and the impact it would have on my family was all consuming.  Luckily it turned out to be fine and while I hope I never have need of Macmillan’s support, I would like to raise money for those who do.

I also want to go on a long and beautiful walk, which is lucky as that’s what it will be!  It’ll also be very hilly……

(slaps forehead and wonders why she didn’t pick an easier fundraiser!)

So, Laurel and I have some serious training to do, which we need to fit in around work and families.  So far we’ve hiked up Glastonbury Tor, to remind our glutes that they exist and today did a beautiful walk on the Mendip Hills.

The walk up had us (well, me mostly) puffing, but the view was worth every breath!

There was another little perk at the end…..

It’s the first sponsored event I’ve done and it’s amazing how grateful you are for each and every donation.  Obviously the more money we raise, the better, but the amount of each donation isn’t proportional to the boost it gives Laurel and I.  Even the smallest donation spurs us on and makes us feel supported.

We’ve set ourselves a target of £500.  I’m very British and hate asking for money, but we would love your support….if you’re able to donate even the smallest amount, we’ll love you forever! Promise……

If you’d like to, you can DONATE HERE.

If you’d like updates on how we’re getting along, I’ll be posting about it on my Instagram and Facebook every now and then.

Wish us luck and say a little prayer for our poor bottoms and feet…..

Theodora X
